This tuition-free program offers sessions one night per month, Sept through May, introducing Golden citizens to city government, history, public finance, education, parks, public safety services, and much more. Join the group for this casual meet and greet on July 12 to see what it’s all about, then apply for the program to meet the July 31 deadline for the 2018-2019 35th anniversary class. With its prime location and free admission to the public, this premier event draws over 35,000 visitors over 2 days to enjoy art, live performances, craft beer, food vendors, and children’s activities.
The established art fair will be limited to 134 artists selected through a competitive jury process. Cash prizes of over $2,000 await 1st and 2nd place winners in nine categories, as well as Best of Show and Best of Colorado honors.

Graduates of any of the 35 years of Leadership Golden are invited to attend this free annual meeting of the Leadership Golden Alumni Association. The event will be held at the Golden Visitors Center, 1010 Washington Avenue on Tuesday, October 2 at 5:30 p.m.

In 2011, the idea of Coffee with a Cop was born in a small California town. Since then, there have been thousands of these coffee gatherings in all 50 states and even in 14 different countries. Golden Police participated in the past, but it fell off the radar in recent years. Now, Golden Police officers want to bring it back to our city.
“I believe it is going to be a good thing to bring this event back to Golden,” said event organizer Corporal Adam Lanning. “Many of our citizens like to speak and talk to officers and this just gives them another opportunity.”
Join the Golden Police Department for Coffee with a Cop from 7 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Café 13, 1301 Arapahoe St. The owners of Café 13 have graciously agreed to host the event and provide free coffee and pastries to anyone who comes. There is no agenda and no speeches, just open and honest communication in a comfortable environment. We hope to see you there!
Now in its 36th Year, Leadership Golden is accepting applications for the 2019-20 Program. This tuition-free program provides local learning about Golden with 11 sessions that run from Sept. 7 to May 7, 2020. Topics include Golden history, government, public works, finance, growth and development, education, arts and recreation, and the justice system. Great program for newcomers and long-time residents interested in the fabric of Golden. Visit leadershipgolden.org for all the details and complete an application form online. Celebrate women at the 5th annual Jeffco International Women’s Day on March 3 at Baldoria on the Water, 146 Van Gordon Street in Lakewood. The event is sponsored by SCL Health Lutheran and the City of Golden, with additional corporate sponshorships from Genesee Mountain Foundation, IX Power Clean Water, and corporate contributor, Coach Stacy’s Healthy U. Proceeds will benefit Porchlight Family Justice Center and the Jefferson County Library Foundation.
CU Regent Heidi Ganahl & founder of “Camp Bow Wow” will be the keynote speaker at this event during lunch. The winner of the “Unsung Heroine” Award will be announced as well, and Marjorie Sloan will be presented with the “Shattered Glass” Award.
