Dozens of Golden businesses stay open until at least 8 p.m. and offer specials, in-store demonstrations, samples and more.
Live music on the street corners, free carriage rides, and merchant special activities bring the festivities outdoors onto the sidewalks and in stores and restaurants throughout the summer weekend evenings.
The Downtown Golden Merchant Partners (DGMP) is hosting the events, with support from the Downtown Development Authority, in appreciation of the Golden community.
Participating businesses will be marked by a gold balloon at their front doors. Golden Weekends will not take place during Buffalo Bill Days weekend nor on Super Cruise Saturdays.
Free parking during the evenings will make it easy for families and visitors to come enjoy Golden Weekends.

The first four Fridays of August will feature family-friendly movies and music for free in Parfet Park. Earlier this spring, we opened a poll allowing folks to vote on one of the movies to be screened this year. A total of 525 votes came in and the winner was… A Wrinkle in Time! You asked for it, so that’s what we’re kicking the season off with, along with the music of Thunder & Rain, a 5-piece acoustic americana band consisting of acoustic guitar, mandolin, dobro, fiddle and upright bass.
Each week, the bands begin performing at 7 p.m. and the featured movie will start rolling at dusk, generally around 8:30 p.m. The movies are shown on a giant inflatable screen under the stars.
Bring blankets or low-slung chairs, and make yourself comfortable! If you need to sit up high in a regular height chair, however, please be courteous of those sitting on the ground, and keep to the edges of the crowd. Come early and bring a picnic dinner, or enjoy food and drinks from local vendors. A number of vendors will be on site to offer tasty selections including tacos, ice cream and sodas. Then, of course, save room, because what’s a movie without hot, buttery popcorn?
Dogs are welcome, just keep them on a leash. And please leave your adult beverages at home – this is an alcohol- and tobacco-free event. Regular park rules apply.

Once a month, car lovers gather along South Golden Road to watch hot rods, classic cars, and custom rides of all kinds do what they do best – cruise! This is Colorado’s biggest annual car cruise, and it happens on the first Saturday of each month, May through October.

The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department, except for the June class, which will be on Tuesday, June 12 in Council Chambers. You may attend one, several or all sessions.
