Golden is celebrating International Golden Retriever Day, in partnership with Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies, on February 3, 2019 by inviting Golden Retrievers and their humans to gather in Golden for a meet-up at the Visitors Center.
Starting at noon, pooches and their people are invited to gather at the Visitors Center for a free dog photo and swag from Golden business, KONG, for the first 100 participants. From there, pups and their people will walk through Golden and along Clear Creek at 12:30 p.m., pausing under the Golden Arch for photos. The event will end at 1:30 p.m.

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.
The Board meets on the first Monday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled the third Monday of each month.

The mission of the Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is to assist the City of Golden in achieving the ten-year sustainability goals. In order to facilitate achievement of these goals, the Board will lead, encourage, enable, and empower the citizens, visitors, and people who work in Golden, to live in a sustainable manner.
The Community Sustainability Advisory Board will hold a special meeting on February 5, 2019, to discuss their 2019 Work Plan and Sustainability Draft Goals. The meeting is open to the public.

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.
Planning Commission public hearings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month.

Break out the beanie, scarf and gloves, now’s your chance to try a winter ride on International Winter Bike to Work Day, Feb. 8, 2019. Various Colorado and International communities have observed Winter Bike to Work Day for many years. Sign up for International Winter Bike to Work Day to join fellow riders as we compete against the world and scout out a breakfast station in your area. Riders who pledge to ride have the option to participate in the International Gift Exchange. (Learn more when you register.)

The GHS Dance Team will hold a Mini Poms Dance Clinic on Saturday, February 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Golden High School Main Gym with a special appearance by Caitlynn Kern, Broncos cheerleader and GHS Dance Team alumni.
This 3-hour dance clinic is for kids in Kindergarten though 6th Grade. Participants will work on dance skills, play games and learn a dance to be performed with the award-winning GHS Dance Team at a Golden High School Basketball game on February 12 at 7 p.m.
Councilors Casey Brown and Saoirse Charis-Graves have combined forces for Coffee with a Councilor in 2019, including both north and south neighborhoods. This is a great opportunity to discuss any issue related to the “good of Golden.”
CWAC will meet on Saturday, February 9 at 10 a.m. at Bean Fosters located at 720 Golden Ridge Road, Unit D.
The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) implements urban renewal projects consistent with community values.

The Local Liquor Licensing Authority meets on the third Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise noted and rescheduled, as is this meeting. These meetings are open to the public and take place in City Council Chambers, 911 10th Street at 2:30 p.m.
