Councilors Casey Brown and Saoirse Charis-Graves have combined forces for Coffee with a Councilor in 2019 including both north and south neighborhoods. This is a great opportunity to discuss any issue related to the “good of Golden.”

The City of Golden has partnered with Bicycle Colorado to provide FREE Auto-Friendly Bicyclist and Bicycle Friendly Driver Courses to the Golden Community!
The Auto-Friendly Bicyclist Course is designed to teach people who ride bicycles best practices for sharing the road with drivers. It will be held on Wednesday, April 10 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Golden Community Center, located at 1470 10th Street.
The 1.5 hour, interactive class covers the following topics:
Common causes of crashes between motorists and bicyclists and how to avoid them.
Legal and illegal behavior for motorists and bicyclists.
How to navigate on-street bicycle infrastructure like shared lanes, bike lanes, and green paint.
Why sharing the road is the safest option for both motorists and bicyclists.
What laws and etiquette we teach motorists.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an Auto-Friendly Bicyclist certificate and sticker to display on their bicycle!

On Thursday, April 11, 7:30 a.m., start the day off at the Denver Marriott West with free breakfast while learning about CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. In the past year, approximately 800 children were involved in 600 open cases of abuse and neglect in Jefferson and Gilpin counties. CASA Jeffco/Gilpin advocated for 385 children.
At this free breakfast event, you’ll hear from someone who personally benefited from CASA Jeffco/Gilpin and learn how you can get involved as a volunteer and/or donor and help the organization advocate for more children.

The Colorado Arts & Crafts Society presents a day of demonstrations, workshops and presentations from local artisans. There will also be an opportunity to purchase artists’ wares, including everything from ceramics to jewelry to woodwork.
This year, vendors will include Annalee’s Naturals, Beth Bradford Studio, Black Birch Studio, Book Arts League, The Bungalow Craft By Julie Leidel, Chinook Pottery, Colorado Calligraphers’ Guild, Colorado Woodworkers Guild, Golden Moon Distillery, Guild of Bookworkers, Handweavers Guild of Boulder; Julie Fletcher Interior Design, Mission West, Nikki Nienhuis Fine Art, Rocky Mountain Marquetry Guild, Rocky Mountain Metalsmiths, Rocky Mountain Silk Painters, Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists and 2R Fine Arts Appraisals.

The Citizens Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) was created by the City Manager to advise City staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual City budget. Participation in CBAC is an opportunity not only to advise on the prioritization of how City tax dollars are spent, but also to advise our policymakers in their decision-making process.
CBAC meets the third Wednesday of each month, March through October and the second Wednesday of November, at 7:30 a.m.

The Bicycle Friendly Driver Course is designed to teach drivers best practices for sharing the road with people who ride bicycles. This course will be held on Tuesday, April 23 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Golden Community Center, located at 1470 10th Street.
The 1.5 hour, interactive class covers the following topics:
– Common causes of crashes between motorists and bicyclists and how to avoid them.
– Legal and illegal behavior for motorists and bicyclists.
– How to navigate on-street bicycle infrastructure while driving a motor vehicle.
– Why sharing the road is the safest option for both motorists and bicyclists.
– What laws and etiquette we teach bicyclists.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a Bicycle-Friendly Driver certificate, a sticker to display on their vehicle, and the option to pledge to be a Bicycle-Friendly Driver!
