The Leadership Golden Alumni Association (LGAA) is hosting a Candidates Forum in connection with this year’s Golden election of City Councilors.
The forum will allow each candidate to make an opening and closing statement. In between, candidates will respond to questions developed by the LGAA membership and the public.
The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3 in Council Chambers, 911 10th St.
The Candidates Forum will also be broadcast live and re-broadcast on Cable Channel 8/880 as well as the city website on the Agendas, Minutes, Web Casts and Schedules page.

Once a month, car lovers gather along South Golden Road to watch hot rods, classic cars, and custom rides of all kinds do what they do best – cruise! This is Colorado’s biggest annual car cruise, and it happens on the first Saturday of each month, May through October.

As part of the City’s waste diversion goals, we transport recyclables and yard waste to regional facilities. Join us on an upcoming tour of the organic compost facility on October 10.
In this behind-the-scenes tour on October 10, you will see how your food and yard waste is processed into a valuable soil amendment. The City’s waste contractor, Alpine Waste and Recycling, operates a Class II compost processing facility at its East Regional Landfill campus, where it actively turns Golden’s collected compostable material into nutrient rich and valuable compost for sale to the landscaping and agricultural industries.
How to Participate
Participants should plan to meet at City Hall (911 10th St, Golden) at 1:30 p.m. Transportation to the facility will be provided and it is about an hour drive. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather as the tour is outside. Expect the tour to last an hour. The tour will return to Golden around 6 p.m. Space is limited, so sign up today by emailing goldensustainabilty@cityofgolden.net.
The Golden City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 with an adjournment into executive session. The regular meeting will then reconvene as usual at 6:30 p.m.

The GHS varsity football game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Marv Kay Stadium, Colorado School of Mines campus.
Two of our current city councilors host a monthly “Coffee with a Councilor” meeting as an opportunity to discuss issues important to you, in an informal setting. In October, the event will be a special version of the meeting, to include the council candidates.
The first 45 minutes will be devoted to the regular discussion of topics and questions residents bring to the table. After that, each council candidate will have an opportunity to introduce themselves to the group, followed by an informal meet and greet to chat individually with candidates.
Coffee with a Councilor will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Golden Terrace Village Clubhouse, 17601 W. Colfax Ave.

The 12th Annual “Knock Your Boots Off” Beer Tasting & Chili Cook-Off is an opportunity for beer and chili to take center stage near the heart of historic downtown Golden.
This annual fall event offers beer and chili tasting, along with live entertainment, food vendors, corporate exhibitors and a silent auction.
The Beer Tasting & Chili Cook-Off takes place in Parfet Park, (SE corner of Washington Ave & 10th Street) just adjacent to downtown Golden, Colorado.
The event was created to benefit the Golden Chamber of Commerce and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
