The Public Art Commission (PAC) has the responsibility of promoting, selecting, acquiring and maintaining public art in the fulfillment of the City’s Art in Public Places program.

PAC meets on the first Thursday of each month in City Hall Council Chambers from 9 to 10:30 a.m.  See the meeting agenda for more information.

Experience the beauty of the holiday season as you walk through downtown Golden, candle in hand, singing holiday carols during this annual tradition. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for photos before the walk, then gather at 6 p.m. at the Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St. on Friday, December 6. The walk begins at 6:30 p.m. down to the Visitors Center for a holiday show, the countdown to the lighting of the lights by Mayor Marjorie Sloan, and a short fireworks display from the roof of the Golden Hotel.

Enjoy the lights that will shine all along Washington Avenue and Clear Creek, along with various activities for everyone to enjoy.

Come do some Christmas Shopping at the Annual Golden High School Holiday Bazaar held by the PTA of Golden High. With one-of-a-kind gifts from over 90 different local artists, you can make a big dent on your holiday shopping list.

This is a fund raiser for the students at Golden High School, helping with scholarships, after prom party, grants, and more.

The Holiday Bazaar will be held at the Golden High School, 701 24th St, Golden on Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Includes free parking and admission.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) implements urban renewal projects consistent with community values.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority usually meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. This meeting, however, has been rescheduled to 4 p.m. To learn more, visit our GURA page. The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of seven members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.

The Economic Development Commission meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. If a meeting must be rescheduled for some reason, the date will be noted on the Community Calendar.

During the Thursday evening City Council meeting, Council will conduct a public hearing to amend Chapters 4.96 and 8.04 of the Golden Municipal Code regarding the regulation of nicotine and tobacco products by 1) increasing the age of purchase or consumption to over 21 years of age 2) banning the sale of all flavored nicotine and tobacco products and nicotine-free vapor products and 3) expanding Golden’s current tobacco licensing program to include all nicotine or tobacco products.

At 10 a.m. that morning, prior to the meeting, Council will conduct a virtual town hall meeting with Golden High School students to better understand their viewpoints on the issue.

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a special district entity authorized and directed by state statute to benefit the economic and community vitality of the downtown area. The DDA will also be authorized to provide tax increment economic incentives to eligible redevelopment projects, much like GURA was able to do in the past.

The DDA meets at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
