The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

Santa is coming by the Golden Police Department on Wednesday, December 11 and wants to meet you!

Come get your picture taken with Santa and meet police officers with the Golden Police Department. Officers will also be collecting letters and making sure Santa receives them. There will be snacks, coloring, crafts and much more holiday fun!

On Saturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center. Join in the holiday spirit and watch floats, clowns, festive holiday characters, and Santa Claus on the firetruck parade down Washington Avenue. After the parades, head to the downtown area shops and restaurants. Each parade is different, providing the perfect reason to bring the family back to Golden again and again!

The route is down Washington Avenue from 11th to 13th Streets through historic downtown, with lots of activities before and after. The parades are presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce. Go to www.VisitGolden.com for more information.

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month. Study Sessions are open to the public, but are for information only, and no public hearings or votes will take place during the meeting. To participate in a Planning Commission public hearing, those meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted).

Join us for a community conversation on Wednesday, January 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Golden Community Center to learn about the results of our recent food assessment. You’ll also have the opportunity to give your input on strategies to increase food security in our community.
