The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

During the Thursday evening City Council meeting, Council will conduct a public hearing to amend Chapters 4.96 and 8.04 of the Golden Municipal Code regarding the regulation of nicotine and tobacco products by 1) increasing the age of purchase or consumption to over 21 years of age 2) banning the sale of all flavored nicotine and tobacco products and nicotine-free vapor products and 3) expanding Golden’s current tobacco licensing program to include all nicotine or tobacco products.

At 10 a.m. that morning, prior to the meeting, Council will conduct a virtual town hall meeting with Golden High School students to better understand their viewpoints on the issue.

Join us for a community conversation on Wednesday, January 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Golden Community Center to learn about the results of our recent food assessment. You’ll also have the opportunity to give your input on strategies to increase food security in our community.

Both dinner and childcare will be provided free of charge. Please help us anticipate numbers and register online for your free ticket.
