Celebrate women at the 5th annual Jeffco International Women’s Day on March 3 at Baldoria on the Water, 146 Van Gordon Street in Lakewood. The event is sponsored by SCL Health Lutheran and the City of Golden, with additional corporate sponshorships from Genesee Mountain Foundation, IX Power Clean Water, and corporate contributor, Coach Stacy’s Healthy U. Proceeds will benefit Porchlight Family Justice Center and the Jefferson County Library Foundation.
CU Regent Heidi Ganahl & founder of “Camp Bow Wow” will be the keynote speaker at this event during lunch. The winner of the “Unsung Heroine” Award will be announced as well, and Marjorie Sloan will be presented with the “Shattered Glass” Award. Come early to network and learn “The truth about personal & cyber security today from a genuine, female Denver FBI agent”.

Join the Golden United Family for their annual Flavors of Golden event on November 15 from 12 to 1 p.m.
This year the event will support and celebrate the Golden Businesses that are such a vital part of our community and whose sustained operations are at risk during this pandemic.

Although the annual Candlelight Walk is cancelled, the holiday spirit will still be illuminated throughout Golden.
On Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., there will be a virtual live stream of Golden Mayor Laura Weinberg throwing the switch to illuminate downtown Golden’s annual holiday lights. From their homes, Golden residents are invited to share their Golden light by placing candles in their windows and displaying all season long in festive citywide solidarity.
To make sure your house gets a commemorative candle, call the Golden Chamber of Commerce at 303-279-3113 or stop by On Tap Credit Union, 816 Washington Avenue (while supplies last), after Nov. 30 to pick one up.

Join VFW Post 4171 and the Golden American Legion Post this Memorial Day at the Golden Cemetery in honoring those who died in active military service.
The service will begin at 11 a.m.
Golden Mayor Laura Weinberg will offer brief remarks, along with Lakewood Council members from Ward 1 and 3, and a short ceremony will follow.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be canceled.
Several community organizations have come together to bring a celebration of the spirit and resilience of the Golden community to life. The event will provide a chance for the community to collectively reflect on the experiences of the past year and celebrate those who have supported us through a difficult time.
The event will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Kafadar Commons (Mines Quad) on Illinois St., and offers an opportunity to:
- Participate in a community art project to capture collective pandemic experiences
- Reflect on how the pandemic impacted us and commemorate those who supported us
- Musical performances, including local band Alibi
- Visit booths of Mines and community organizations
- Win prizes from Golden businesses
- Enjoy kids activities with Mines students
- Enjoy food and drink from local vendors (including from Bob’s Burgers, Basic Kneads Pizza, Golden Poultry and Meats, the Eddy Hotel, and others)
Take a ride on the new Mines-Golden Downtown automated shuttle.

Don’t miss the Golden Sidewalk Sale in beautiful downtown Golden. Roam Washington Avenue and stroll up and down the side streets looking for shops sporting balloons signaling a sale. Golden’s mostly locally-owned stores are going all out for this event with great prices on everything from outdoor gear and jewelry to clothing and artisan crafts. Get to Golden early for the best selection. The sale is citywide and most Downtown Golden merchants are participating. With a wide variety of shops and restaurants offering sidewalk sales and outdoor dining, there is no better time to visit Golden and get a jump on holiday shopping.
Did we mention the fun? Because this year, you’ll also enjoy entertainment including a mobile bubble tower, face painting, and paint a pumpkin kit for kids (while supplies last), making the Golden Sidewalk Sale perfect for free family amusement. Stop by the back patio of Golden Visitor & Information Center (1010 Washington Ave.) for face painting and to pick up the children’s activity.
