Lodging Tax and Retail Marijuana Information Open House @ Council Chambers
Aug 3 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
City Council is considering placing two ballot measures on the November 2021 election. One is regarding the authorization of a tax on overnight commercial lodging visitors to our community in hotels, motels, campgrounds, and short-term rentals. The second item City Council is considering is a measure that would adopt new regulations permitting retail sales of marijuana to adults within the parameters of Amendment 64 and to impose an excise tax on the commercial sales.
Join us for an Open House in Council Chambers (911 10th St.) on August 3 from 5 to 6 p.m. to learn more about these issues and provide input on what you support including parameters or funding scenarios. Learn more about both potential ballot measures at www.GuidingGolden.com.
Stick around after the Open House for the Houselessness Panel presentation, which will immediately follow.

31st Annual Golden Fine Arts Festival @ Downtown Golden
Aug 21 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Golden Fine Arts Festival logoA Golden icon for three decades, Golden Fine Arts Festival is a prestigious juried art show located in the heart of historic downtown Golden, Colorado happening August 21-22.

With its prime location just 20 minutes west of Metro Denver and free admission to the public, this premier event traditionally draws over 30,000 visitors (pre-COVID) over 2 days to enjoy art, live entertainment, beer and wine gardens, and food vendors.

Artists are selected through a competitive jury process selected by art professionals. Traditionally, over half of participating artists travel to Golden from outside of the state of Colorado. Colorado is also home to many talented artists who participate at the event each year. Cash prizes are awarded to 1st and 2nd place winners in nine categories, as well as Best of Show and Best of Colorado honors.

Produced by the Golden Chamber of Commerce, Golden Fine Arts Festival is a favorite of those who value an attentive and welcoming ‘home hospitality’ of Golden, Colorado for artists and patrons alike. Any type of tragedy, including the COVID-19 pandemic, can leave caretakers struggling to find what to say and how to connect with their youth. How do we help kids feel safe and secure in a world that doesn’t feel that way? This class covers how to help kids cope, strategies for care givers to utilize to support feelings of control for them and their young people, and how caregivers themselves can take care of their emotions.

Speaker Chelsea Vibert (LPC) is the clinical coordinator for Colorado Spirit, a team working with those impacted by COVID-19 through Jefferson Center. She received her Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology and specializes in trauma-based treatments, such as EMDR and TF-CBT. Prior to this role, she provided individual, group, and family therapy to students in Jefferson County schools, as well as providing professional development for educators and administrators on mental health and trauma.

This class will be offered in person and on Zoom, for those who wish to join virtually.  Use the links below to register for the class.
