The first meeting was on June 28 with a focus on the City listening to your feedback on the topic.
This second meeting will be August 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers and online. The meeting’s focus is for the City to respond and talk about what some of the causes are of homelessness locally and what the City is doing about it. The panel will discuss what is happening regionally and locally in terms of the unhoused population. Our Regional Coordinator Kelli Barker will be there to share data and information from the county level, our Homeless Navigator Rebekah Rudabaugh will speak about her work in Golden, and the City Attorney will discuss the constitutional and legal rights and boundaries involving the people who are unsheltered. The panel will end with information about how the City is addressing houselessness and discussing some of the challenges.

Movies and Music in the Park is back this year!
The last three Fridays of August feature family-friendly movies and music for free in Parfet Park. This week we bring you Toy Story 4 along with the music of La Pompe.
Each week, the bands begin performing at 7 p.m. and the featured movie will start rolling at dusk, generally around 8:30 p.m. The movies are shown on a giant screen under the stars.
Bring blankets or low-slung chairs, and make yourself comfortable! If you need to sit up high in a regular height chair, however, please be courteous of those sitting on the ground, and keep to the edges of the crowd. We’ve dedicated the front area to blankets only, so please look for the signs. Come early and bring a picnic dinner, or enjoy food and drinks from local vendors.
Dogs are welcome, just keep them on a leash. And please leave your adult beverages at home – this is an alcohol-free and tobacco-free event. Regular park rules apply.
See our Movies & Music in the Park page for a full line-up of coming attractions this August!

A Golden icon for three decades, Golden Fine Arts Festival is a prestigious juried art show located in the heart of historic downtown Golden, Colorado happening August 21-22.
With its prime location just 20 minutes west of Metro Denver and free admission to the public, this premier event traditionally draws over 30,000 visitors (pre-COVID) over 2 days to enjoy art, live entertainment, beer and wine gardens, and food vendors.
The event, rich in community tradition and a well-established reputation, is limited to 100 artist booth spaces. If social distancing restrictions are in place, booth spaces may be limited further. Artists are selected through a competitive jury process selected by art professionals. Traditionally, over half of participating artists travel to Golden from outside of the state of Colorado. Cash prizes are awarded to 1st and 2nd place winners in nine categories, as well as Best of Show and Best of Colorado honors.
Produced by the Golden Chamber of Commerce, Golden Fine Arts Festival is a favorite of those who value an attentive and welcoming ‘home hospitality’ of Golden, Colorado for artists and patrons alike.
