The City of Golden will host a community-wide meeting in City Council Chambers (911 10th Street) from 6 p.m to 7:30 p.m. on June 29 to begin community education about the recently updated Community Wildfire Protection Plan in Golden.
Golden Fire Chief Jerry Stricker will lead the meeting, offering an overview of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan updates. He will also discuss the ten wildfire risk zones identified in Golden, and ways that individuals and families can best be prepared in the event of a wildfire. There will also be a high level overview of mitigation efforts and evacuation planning recently conducted by the City of Golden and Jefferson County. A short Q&A session will follow.
If you are unable to attend, you can stream the meeting live at GCO.tv or on Channel 880. The meeting will also be recorded and available to watch at your convenience at GCO.tv.

Join the Parks Department and consultants on Monday, July 11 in the Golden Community Center from 6 to 7 p.m. for a meeting to update the community on the progress of the Open Space Master Plan.
Since access to the outdoors is part of daily life in the City of Golden, the City is seeking feedback from people who live near natural areas or open spaces, people who enjoy and seek more access to the outdoors, conservationists, and more. We encourage everyone with an investment in Golden’s natural areas and open space to attend this public meeting in order to share their opinions and receive an opportunity to complete a survey after the meeting that will inform decisions related to the Open Spaces Master Plan.
The primary purpose of the Parks and Recreation Open Space Master Plan is to create a clear and concise mission, vision, definition, and system of classification for open spaces within the City of Golden. Learn more about the Open Space Master Plan on Guiding Golden. New

Golden is already recognized as a regional cycling destination with access to the foothills. On summer weekends, thousands of residents and visitors enjoy walking through Downtown Golden and along Clear Creek. To address the needs of managing Golden’s growing popularity for pedestrians and bicyclists, Golden Planning staff, with the help of Muller Engineering, is working to develop a Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan that will provide the groundwork to ensure everyone—residents, visitors and commuters—has access to safe and efficient multimodal travel. More than just infrastructure, the Plan will focus on expanding our walking and biking culture through partnerships, programs and policy.
We want to hear from our community as we kick off this effort. Join us for a Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan Open House on Tuesday, August 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Council Chambers. You can also take a survey and get involved on GuidingGolden.com.
