ARTSWEEK GOLDEN returns July 7 – 15 with a week-long celebration of the arts courtesy of Foothills Art Center and the Golden Public Art Commission (PAC).

Plein Air painters, aerialists, a film screening and art trivia are just some of the activities with an art-oriented focus that will be free to the public. Walk downtown and along the north side of the creek and see if you can discover all 14 “Itty Bitty Art Projects” sponsored by the PAC.

Historic Preservation Board Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets in Council Chambers on the second Wednesday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled as needed.

Economic Development Commission Meeting (Location Change) @ Public Works & Planning Building

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of seven members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.

The Economic Development Commission meets regularly on the second Thursday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. If a meeting must be rescheduled for some reason, the date will be noted on the Community Calendar and on the agendas page.

Downtown Development Authority Meeting @ Council Chambers

DDAThe Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a special district entity authorized and directed by state statute to benefit the economic and community vitality of the downtown area. The DDA will also be authorized to provide tax increment economic incentives to eligible redevelopment projects, much like GURA was able to do in the past.

The DDA meets the third Monday at 6:30 p.m unless otherwise noted on the calendar to accommodate holidays or other scheduling conflicts.

Local Licensing Authority Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Local Licensing Authority meets on the third Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise noted. These meetings begin at 2:30 p.m.

The Board is comprised of a Hearing Officer, who is appointed by City Council.

Citizens Budget Advisory Committee @ Council Chambers

The Citizens Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) was created by the City Manager to advise City staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual city budget. Participation in CBAC is an opportunity not only to advise on the prioritization of how city tax dollars are spent, but also to advise our policymakers in their decision-making process.

CBAC meets the third Wednesday of each month, February through October and the second Wednesday of November, at 7:30 a.m.

Planning Commission Study Session @ Council Chambers

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission Study Sessions are open to the public, but are for information only, and no public hearings or votes will take place during the meeting.
