Turn on your porch lights, lock your doors, and join the Golden Police Department for the 2023 National Night Out event from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1 in Parfet Park on the corner of 10th Street and Washington Avenue. Bring the whole family for face painting, crime prevention tips, food, and fun. The Flight for Life Helicopter will land at 7 p.m., provided they are not on a service call.

National Night Out is an annual community event that promotes police-community partnerships in a fun and relaxing environment.

Join us for three Friday nights of free family-friendly movies and live music over the course of the summer:  July 7, Aug. 4 and Sept. 1.

The August 4 event of the free series will hosted in Parfet Park (10th Street and Washington Avenue) in downtown Golden.

Autumn Fest is a free celebration of Golden featuring hands-on activities for the whole family, including crafts, big trucks, and even farm animals!

Join us to welcome the fall season at Golden History Museum (923 10th St.) with free and low-cost family-friendly activities:

• Make-your-own thaumatrope station and lawn games (hoop toss, ladder ball, and cornhole)
• 4-H petting zoo
• Craft stations
• BIG TRUCKS (Streets, Fire, and Police Departments)
• Costumed Civil War interpretation
• Karate demonstration

Come out to Fire Station #1 at 911 10th Street on Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free, Fire Prevention Week Safety Day, sponsored with the help of local and regional partners.

Activities for all ages will be featured, including fire truck tours, live fire demonstrations, and the opportunity to practice hands-on fire safety skills with first responders.

Light refreshments provided.

Find out how your neighbors are living better AND saving money at the annual Metro Denver Green Homes Tour. This year, the tour features an outstanding group of fifteen homes that have opened their doors wide in welcome, ready to inspire your eco-friendly home innovations.

All the homes are described in a large colorful booklet that is free with each $10 ticket.

Afterward, don’t miss the free Green Expo and Reception at the American Mountaineering Center from 5 to 7 p.m.

Following the Metro Denver Green Homes Tour, come out to the American Mountaineering Center for a free celebration of all things green!

Come explore an eco-friendly tiny home, visit the solar growing dome, try demo bikes and explore the EV Roundup of locally owned EV’s and new dealer models.

Enjoy free appetizers, local beverages and live music. It’s an event not to be missed!

Individuals, businesses and restaurants offer up their best chili for tasting and competition at Parfet Park on Oct. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Sponsored by the Golden Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Coors Distributing Company, this event will showcase 30+ brands of beer, from domestic beers to imports and local specialty crafts.

On Halloween, Oct. 31 from 3 to 5:00 p.m., downtown Washington Ave. will be closed to cars and filled instead with tiny zombies, super-heroes and other masked little ones, all ready to fill their trick-or-treat bags in a safe atmosphere with candy provided by local Golden merchants.

Bring your little ones for some sugar-saturated, non-spooky fun!

The Historic Preservation Board will tour portions of historic downtown Golden on a walking tour in lieu of a regular meeting in Council Chambers.

The Board will meet at the Visitor’s Center parking lot (1010 Washington Avenue) at 6:30 p.m., and tour for approximately 1 hour on Washington Avenue and 12th Street. Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate attire and shoes for approximately 6 blocks of walking.
