Experience the beauty of the holiday season as you walk through downtown Golden, candle in hand, singing holiday carols. Golden’s traditional Candlelight Walk on Friday, Dec. 1, offers an old-fashioned way to start the season of lights and is open to everyone.
Gather at 6 p.m. at Foothills Art Center for pre-walk caroling. The walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. and ends in front of the Golden Visitors Center at 10th Street and Washington Avenue for the tree lighting.
Saturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center with traditional decorations and fun family events. The free Olde Golden Christmas Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. with cowboys on horses, floats, marching bands, old cars, elves on unicycles, the Grinch in his corvette, and of course, Santa Claus. The parade winds down Washington Avenue with lots of activities before and after including snappy barbershop quartets, hot cider, Victorian carolers, and antique fire trucks. Join the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra for an afternoon of beautiful holiday music featuring our special guests, the Golden High School 24th Street Singers. It’s a program of festive favorites that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Also on the program is Stravinsky’s lively composition, Petrushka, based on a story about a mischievous puppet by the same name.

Join VFW Post 4171 in honoring those who died in active military service at the Golden Cemetery on Memorial Day. The service will begin at 11 a.m.
Visit the graves of legendary Golden characters. Hear stories about their lives from storytellers and guides, Dennis Potter and Troy Rodriquez.
Tours begin and end at the Golden Cemetery. Two tours are available: 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Meet at the Golden Cemetery, 755 Ulysses St. Registration is required – you can learn more and register online at GoldenHistory.org. Tours are free for Golden History Museum & Park members, $10 for non-members.

It’s full steam ahead for tricks, treats and trains at the Colorado Railroad Museum!
The Railroad Halloween Town is a safe place to enjoy Trick or Treating. Catch a ride behind a historic Denver & Rio Grande Steam Locomotive in vintage passenger cars hosted by conductors and engineers in full costume.
Visit all of the special stops to fill your treat bags and tickle your funny bones including the “not so spooky” Haunted Railcar and the Olde Railroaders Silly Graveyard. Enjoy local food, kettle corn, shaved ice and even get your face painted. Finally, get a great picture of your costume as you pose in front of the Pumpkin Patch cart. Admission: Museum members and Children under 2 are free, Children $5, Adults $15 and Seniors $10.
Admission includes unlimited rides on the Steam Engine as well as entertainment throughout the grounds. The CRM will be open to the public on October 27 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with entertainment and events running 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
