Historic Preservation Board Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets in Council Chambers on the second Wednesday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled as needed.

Economic Development Commission (EDComm) Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of seven members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.

The Economic Development Commission meets regularly on the second Thursday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. If a meeting must be rescheduled for some reason, the date will be noted on the Community Calendar and on the agendas page.

Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Meeting @ Council Chambers

DDAThe Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a special district entity authorized and directed by state statute to benefit the economic and community vitality of the downtown area. The DDA will also be authorized to provide tax increment economic incentives to eligible redevelopment projects, much like GURA was able to do in the past.

The DDA meets the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar to accommodate holidays or other scheduling conflicts.

Local Licensing Authority Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Local Licensing Authority meets on the third Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise noted. These meetings begin at 2:30 p.m.

The Board is comprised of a Hearing Officer, who is appointed by City Council.

Arts and Culture Strategic Master Plan Discovery Meeting @ Golden Community Center

Montage of art and culture found around Golden.The City of Golden has engaged Keen Independent to create an Arts and Culture Strategic Master Plan, which will serve as a framework for cultivating art, culture, and creativity in Golden. Keen Independent is a national research firm that combines expertise in equity and economics with lived arts and cultural leadership. The study team will conduct extensive stakeholder and community engagement, visit and document Golden’s cultural assets, and assess the City’s needs to complete the plan by August 2023. Residents of Golden are cordially invited to participate in a Discovery Meeting on Tuesday, April 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Golden Community Center (1470 10th St.) to learn more about the study and provide input through different family-friendly brainstorming activities. Food and beverages will be provided.

Roadmap to Net Zero Buildings Public Meeting

After feedback from an initial discussion with City Council on February 14th, the Community Sustainability Advisory Board and Planning Commission have scheduled a series of public meetings to receive community input about several topics regarding the Roadmap to Net Zero Buildings project.

Interested members of the public are welcome to attend and provide input at the following opportunities. Planning Commission and CSAB are also expected to schedule discussions at their regular meetings in April. All of the following meetings will take place in Council Chambers at 911 10th St.

  • Monday, March 27 (6 – 8:30 p.m.): Solar photovoltaic system requirements for proposed new building construction. Considerations for onsite placement and offsite options such as a cash-in-lieu program, community solar garden subscriptions and relief from solar requirements. March 27 Meeting Agenda
  • Monday, April 3 (6 – 8:30 p.m.): Exemptions from proposed all-electric construction requirements, potential criteria for a hardship definition, and alternative compliance pathways. April 3 Meeting Agenda

Citizens Budget Advisory Committee Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Citizens Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) was created by the City Manager to advise city staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual city budget. Participation in CBAC is an opportunity not only to advise on the prioritization of how city tax dollars are spent, but also to advise our policymakers in their decision-making process.

CBAC meets the third Wednesday of each month, March through October and the second Wednesday of November, at 7:30 a.m.

Planning Commission Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the city and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise noted on the calendar.

Parks, Recreation & Museums Advisory Board Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Parks, Recreation & Museums Advisory Board was created to increase community involvement, and to advise Golden City Council and staff on how to best provide safe and comprehensive parks, recreation and museum facilities, programs, and services on behalf of all current and future residents of the City of Golden.

The board consists of seven members and one alternate who serve four-year terms, making suggestions about policies and procedures, fees and charges, acceptance of park land, design of parks, and other projects relating to the Parks and Recreation Department.
