Jason Slowinski - City Manager
The City of Golden operates under the City Manager/Council form of government. The Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the City, reporting to the City Council. The Manager is responsible for implementing the policies and budget established by Council. All other departments fall under the guidance and supervision of this office.
Susan Brooks - City Clerk
The City Clerk attends all formal Council meetings and study sessions and takes minutes. The Clerk also conducts City elections; assists interested citizens with the initiative and referendum process; maintains the central records of the city; codifies ordinances; administers liquor licenses, special events liquor permits, coin operated amusement machine licenses, and other miscellaneous licenses.
Steve Glueck - Community and Economic Development Director
The Community and Economic Development Department is engaged in planning, coordinating, and implementing the future physical, land use, and economic form of our community. The Planning Division works with residents, businesses, land owners, and community organizations to achieve and support the Golden Vision 2030 Values and Principles. This division works on community and neighborhood master plans land use and development regulations and approvals and historic preservation. The Economic Development division works to retain and attract primary employers and to support small businesses of all kinds. The Sustainability Division develops and implements projects and programs to help both the City organization and the community achieve our sustainability goals.
Jeff Hansen - Director
The Finance Department is responsible for providing accurate, relevant and timely reports to management, City Council and citizens regarding the financial status of the City and impact of financial decisions. The Department also maintains the City’s accounting system and is responsible for making policy recommendations to the City Manager and Council to preserve the long-term financial health of the City. Utility Billing, Sales Tax Administration, Municipal Court, Information Technology, and Fleet operations are also part of the Finance Department.
John Bales - Fire Chief
For the last 133 years, Golden firefighters have been on the job. The Golden Fire Department (GFD) is a combination department comprised of 10 full-time career personnel and 90 volunteer firefighters. Golden firefighters regularly respond to a variety of calls including fire, medical, technical rescue, wildland fire, swift water rescue and hazardous materials response. They also emphasize training and public education. The GFD responds to over 1,200 emergency calls annually from four fire stations, strategically located throughout the City. The GFD also provides fire protection to several areas of unincorporated Jefferson County adjacent to the City of Golden.
Teresa Reilly - Director
The Human Resource Department's mission is to enhance the value and productivity of the City's most valuable assets (our employees) through effective human resource practices. We provide our internal customers with a myriad of personnel and career related services including but not limited to: recruitment and selection; compensation and benefits administration; training and development; employee education programs; counseling and corrective performance activities; performance management, and employee recognition.

Rod Tarullo - Director
The Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to promote and provide safe and comprehensive community facilities, programs and services that enrich the quality of life for residents and visitors. The CAPRA Accredited and Gold Medal winning department encompasses recreation, parks, forestry, cemetery, facilities, golf and museums. The system provides 253 acres of parks, 24 miles of trails, 402 acres of open space; facilities including the Cemetery, Community Center, Splash Aquatic Park, Clear Creek RV Park, Fossil Trace Golf Club and Golden History Museums; preservation of the community’s historic resources; and programs and services for all ages and abilities.
Bill Kilpatrick - Police Chief
Much has changed in the history of the city and the police department over the years, but what has not changed in 150 years of service is our commitment as an organization to providing exceptional services. The Golden Police Department is committed to working in partnership with the community. We believe in working in collaboration with residents to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life in our city. With that goal in mind our website objective is to highlight the services that we provide to the people who live, work or visit our community and offer website visitors 24/7 access to what we hope will be useful information. Dan Hartman - Director
The Golden Public Works Department is responsible for the city’s water system, including treatment, distribution, mountain reservoirs, water rights, and water quality. We maintain the city wastewater collection lines, and operate the industrial pretreatment program. We operate the city Environmental compliance division and storm water quality program, as well as maintain the city storm water collection and conveyance system. The city Street Department including all streets, curb, gutter and sidewalks are maintained by Public Works. We do all capital projects, engineering, Mapping and GIS, floodplain administration and traffic engineering. Public Works administers the city Building Department, which handles all permits and inspections as well as the city wide trash collection contract.
