Doing Business with China: JeffCo Innovators’ Workshop @ Council Chambers
Feb 8 @ 6:30 pm – 8:35 pm

Doing business in China can be intimidating and difficult for an American. However, this rapidly expanding economy presents huge opportunities that can be worth pursuing under the right circumstances. If you are looking to sell or manufacture your products in China, or if you are considering purchasing goods and services from Chinese concerns, you must take special care to understand the Chinese markets and way of doing business.

IX Power companies CEO John R. (Grizz) Deal and his team at IX Water in Golden have spent the last 10 years doing business in China with state owned entities, government agencies, and private concerns. This talk will focus on the various issues surrounding manufacturing and sourcing goods in China, collaborating with Chinese firms, and entering Chinese markets.

This talk is for anyone interested in China in general, doing business in China, expanding their business in China, or sourcing from China.

For the LOVE of Libraries!

Want to become more involved with the Library? Meet new people? Provide ideas for new programs? Volunteer at fun events? Help raise awareness of the library? Help raise funds for Jefferson County Public Library to continue to meet the needs of all residents of the county?

If you love the Library, join us for our first meeting of the FRIENDS of the Jefferson County Public Library at the Golden location, on Wednesday, February 15, at 6:15 p.m.

This Valentine-themed meeting/event includes a “Share Your Love of Books” exercise and you’re encouraged to bring your favorite book and chat about it with a different person every four minutes in a progressive lineup. (Think speed-dating – but you’re not really looking for a mate, just a new friend or acquaintance.)

We’ll also have a visit from local author Mike Foster. Mike recently published his fifth book – a work of fiction – This Above All. We’ll have door prizes and refreshments. This is a great way to meet new people and learn about fun opportunities at the library through the FRIENDS of the JCPL and the JCPL Foundation. For all lovers of the Library. The event is free, but please register in advance to reserve your space. For adults 16 and older.

This is the second year that International Women’s Day has been celebrated in Jefferson County, Colorado, and the City of Golden will this year proclaim March 8 as Women’s Day. In many countries around the world, this is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. International Women’s Day first emerged at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe and the first time it was observed nationally in the U.S. was in 1909. The Charter of the United Nations, signed in 1945, was the first international agreement to affirm the principle of equality between women and men.

STEM Contest

The Golden Library, which has an active STEM girls program, is holding a contest for girls in grades 5 through 8. Colorado School of Mines Female Students (via DECTech) will be judging the contest.
