The final public meeting to see results of the Heritage Road engineering study, originally to take place on February 6 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Shelton Elementary Library, has been postponed. The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department, except for the June class, which will be on Tuesday, June 12 in Council Chambers. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

• Golden Safety Academy Calendar 

The annual Chili Cook-off is GHS’s largest fundraising event. Enter your favorite chili in one of four categories, or just bring the family for all-you-can eat chili and shop the silent auction.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

JOY (Jamboree for Outstanding Youngsters) is a children’s carnival put on by Colorado School of Mines coed service and leadership fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, that promotes STEM-related activities for local youth.

Held on the Colorado School of Mines campus, it includes a variety of STEM activities hosted by campus and community organizations. The theme for the carnival this year is dinosaurs!

The GURA Meeting on March 12th will be a walking tour of the Central Neighborhoods led by Steve Glueck.  If you are interested in attending, please meet at the Natural Grocers at 5:30.  The tour will last approximately one hour.

In 1989, the Golden City Council created the Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) to support the economic vitality of downtown Golden. When the Golden City Council created GURA, it also adopted an Urban Renewal Plan to provide guidance to GURA. The organization implements urban renewal projects, consistent with community values.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority normally meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. Please note the time and location change for the March 12, 2018 meeting.

• Golden Safety Academy Calendar 

The Golden Investment Forum Task Force will host a community Open House on March 14, 4:30 to 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers to kick off the community engagement focus of the project.

The Open House is expected to include information on the types of potential investment projects the Task Force is researching under their duties as assigned by Council.

Taste of Golden features samplings from a wide variety of Golden’s fine dining restaurants, eateries, and sweet-shops, as well as from local Breweries and Distilleries.

This is an opportunity to sample some of the best that Golden culinary treats that Golden has to offer.

A limited number of tickets are available and no tickets will be sold at the door, so plan ahead and purchase your tickets soon on the Golden Chamber of Commerce website.​

Jeffco Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jason Glass, will moderate a panel discussion on school safety from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, at Lakewood High School (9700 W. 8^th Ave).

School security staff, local law enforcement, and other community partners will share information with the community on how we all work together on school safety. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues. The meeting will also be livestreamed .
