The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.
Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month. Study Sessions are open to the public, but are for information only, and no public hearings or votes will take place during the meeting. To participate in a Planning Commission public hearing, those meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers (unless otherwise noted).

A public meeting regarding the North Washington Complete Streets project will be held on August 21 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th Street. The meeting will offer a brief presentation to outline the construction schedule, phasing of the project, and details regarding the closures and detours necessitated by the project construction.
There is a proposal from the Golden Giddyup, a local non-profit organization, to build single-track sidewalks (natural surface trails) next to existing paved bike paths to provide a place for young and beginner riders to experience mountain biking, although the trails would not be exclusively limited to beginner riders.
The proposed Singletrack Sidewalks pilot project (STS) would stretch from Apex Park to 6th Avenue along the bike path on city property.
The City of Golden is interested in gathering input from the community for this endeavor PRIOR TO taking any action. A full description of the project, including the full proposal and proposed trail maps, is available at GuidingGolden.com where public comment is also being gathered. This public meeting will be held on August 28, 6 to 8 p.m. at Shelton Elementary School, 420 Crawford St., Golden.
The Colorado School of Mines will conduct the next and final Neighborhood Open House to present the draft of the Mines Master Plan. Please join us to see how the campus will evolve over the coming years.

Imagine helping your neighbors and fellow residents on what could be the worst day of their lives. The Golden Fire Department (GFD) is in search of men and women who live in Golden who want to become part of the City’s amazing team of volunteer firefighters.
By joining the GFD, you learn much more than how to put out fires. You will learn medical rescue techniques, high angle rescue, swift water and ice rescue, how to save people from car crashes, and much more. You will be helping your neighbors, friends and fellow residents in one of the most long-standing and honorable ways possible for Golden volunteers.
Do you want to learn more about what it takes and if you would be the right fit for the GFD? Join us for one of two open houses to meet the staff and volunteers and get all of your questions answered. Come enjoy free food and refreshments and let us get to know you! If you cannot make it to an open house, feel free to contact Capt. Jeanette Kehoe at 303-215-8888.
