CCG celebrates the wisdom, artistry and ingenuity of western folkways through exhibitions, statewide outreach educational programs, and a premier annual event held in January – a vital link to the past, present and future, and where the traditions of the cowboy and the Code of the West are shared through stories, poetry, song and verse.

FRIENDS of the Jefferson County Public Library at the Golden Library @ Golden Library
Feb 15 @ 6:15 pm – 7:45 pm

For the LOVE of Libraries!

Want to become more involved with the Library? Meet new people? Provide ideas for new programs? Volunteer at fun events? Help raise awareness of the library? Help raise funds for Jefferson County Public Library to continue to meet the needs of all residents of the county?

If you love the Library, join us for our first meeting of the FRIENDS of the Jefferson County Public Library at the Golden location, on Wednesday, February 15, at 6:15 p.m.

This Valentine-themed meeting/event includes a “Share Your Love of Books” exercise and you’re encouraged to bring your favorite book and chat about it with a different person every four minutes in a progressive lineup. (Think speed-dating – but you’re not really looking for a mate, just a new friend or acquaintance.)

We’ll also have a visit from local author Mike Foster. Mike recently published his fifth book – a work of fiction – This Above All. We’ll have door prizes and refreshments. This is a great way to meet new people and learn about fun opportunities at the library through the FRIENDS of the JCPL and the JCPL Foundation. For all lovers of the Library. The event is free, but please register in advance to reserve your space. For adults 16 and older.

Opening Reception for How New is Modern at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum @ Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum
Oct 27 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Rocky Mountain Quilt MuseumThe Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum (RMQM) is proud to host an exhibition of modern quilts from a talented group of modern quilters — The Denver Metro Modern Quilt Guild. How New is Modern, an exhibition of quilts designed and created by Denver-area modern quilters, explores well-known and classic designs in unique and unexpected ways. Using quilts from RMQM’s own collection as inspiration, thirty-seven quilts present reimaginations of classic quilt patterns, utilizing bright colors, unusual fabrics, and intricate quilting.

On display from October 23 to February 3, 2018, How New Is Modern will provide all visitors to the museum with a fresh exploration of long favored traditional patterns, encouraging discussion between traditional and modern quilters. Also on display will be a collection of favorite quilts from the Museum’s collection, including the traditional quilts that inspired How New Is Modern.

An opening reception for the exhibit is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 27. The reception is open to the public. The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum is open every day: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
