On Saturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center with traditional decorations and fun family events! The free Olde Golden Christmas Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. with cowboys on horses, floats, bands, old cars, elves on unicycles, the Grinch in his corvette, and of course, Santa Claus.
The parade winds down Washington Avenue with lots of activities before and after including snappy barbershop quartets, hot cider, Victorian carolers, and antique fire trucks. The parades are presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce.
No need to wait until midnight to celebrate the new Year! It’s already 2019 for much of the world; come celebrate with Paris’s countdown at the Golden Library with crafts, games and music for the whole family from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
For more information, call 303-235-5275 or visit jeffcolibrary.org to register for the event.
Golden is celebrating International Golden Retriever Day, in partnership with Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies, on February 3, 2019 by inviting Golden Retrievers and their humans to gather in Golden for a meet-up at the Visitors Center.
Starting at noon, pooches and their people are invited to gather at the Visitors Center for a free dog photo and swag from Golden business, KONG, for the first 100 participants. From there, pups and their people will walk through Golden and along Clear Creek at 12:30 p.m., pausing under the Golden Arch for photos. The event will end at 1:30 p.m.
Please remember to keep your Golden leashed and clean up after your dog. For more information, please visit VisitGolden.com.

The Golden Kiwanis, with the assistance of their sponsored youth (Builders Club, Key Club, and Circle K) along with the Golden Chamber of Commerce and local merchants provide thousands of stuffed plastic eggs for the kids of Golden to enjoy at Easter.
On the morning of the hunt, eggs are spread throughout Parfet Park with different areas for different age groups. Once the bell sounds, kids clean the park in 30 seconds or less and head into downtown for more activities, so don’t be late!
May 11, 2019 is the 27th annual Letter Carrier’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, when postal workers all over the country collect food from patrons on their routes and deliver those contributions to local community food banks.
To participate, simply put non-perishable food in a sack next to your mailbox in the morning and your donation will be collected and used to help fellow Golden residents in need.
