The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office is hosting its 8th Annual Senior Law Day on June 2, offering educational seminars for seniors and for adults who may be facing challenges with aging parents.
This year there will be 24 valuable workshops, including topics on Medicare/Medicaid Issues, Estate Planning, Wills/Trusts, End of Life Issues, Powers-of-Attorney, Probate, Conservatorship and Guardianship, Investment Fraud, and more. Attorneys and representatives from a variety of community resources will be also available to answer individual questions. The “Ask-an-Attorney” feature offers free 15-minute consultations.
Senior Law Day will be held at the Jefferson County courthouse, 100 Jefferson County Parkway, in Golden, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 2.
Registration is only $10 and includes a continental breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, and the new Colorado Senior Law Handbook, a publication of the Colorado Bar Association. Payment must made by check or money order. Learn more on the Jeffco website.

On Saturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center with traditional decorations and fun family events! The free Olde Golden Christmas Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. with cowboys on horses, floats, bands, old cars, elves on unicycles, the Grinch in his corvette, and of course, Santa Claus.
The parade winds down Washington Avenue with lots of activities before and after including snappy barbershop quartets, hot cider, Victorian carolers, and antique fire trucks. The parades are presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce.

The GHS Dance Team will hold a Mini Poms Dance Clinic on Saturday, February 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Golden High School Main Gym with a special appearance by Caitlynn Kern, Broncos cheerleader and GHS Dance Team alumni.
This 3-hour dance clinic is for kids in Kindergarten though 6th Grade. Participants will work on dance skills, play games and learn a dance to be performed with the award-winning GHS Dance Team at a Golden High School Basketball game on February 12 at 7 p.m.
The Colorado Arts & Crafts Society presents a day of demonstrations, workshops and presentations from local artisans. There will also be an opportunity to purchase artists’ wares, including everything from ceramics to jewelry to woodwork.
This year, vendors will include Annalee’s Naturals, Beth Bradford Studio, Black Birch Studio, Book Arts League, The Bungalow Craft By Julie Leidel, Chinook Pottery, Colorado Calligraphers’ Guild, Colorado Woodworkers Guild, Golden Moon Distillery, Guild of Bookworkers, Handweavers Guild of Boulder; Julie Fletcher Interior Design, Mission West, Nikki Nienhuis Fine Art, Rocky Mountain Marquetry Guild, Rocky Mountain Metalsmiths, Rocky Mountain Silk Painters, Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists and 2R Fine Arts Appraisals.

The Golden Kiwanis, with the assistance of their sponsored youth (Builders Club, Key Club, and Circle K) along with the Golden Chamber of Commerce and local merchants provide thousands of stuffed plastic eggs for the kids of Golden to enjoy at Easter.
On the morning of the hunt, eggs are spread throughout Parfet Park with different areas for different age groups. Once the bell sounds, kids clean the park in 30 seconds or less and head into downtown for more activities, so don’t be late!
The City of Golden, in partnership with Golden United and the Foothills Art Center, invite you to a community workshop to discuss the future of Golden. We will talk about visions for Golden and how we can manage development to align with key goals, including preserving our small town character, access to affordable housing, and sustainability.
Together, we will brainstorm options for regulating land-use and development, as well as strategies for strengthening communication and engagement of residents in planning and zoning processes.
The community workshop will be held at Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St, on Tuesday, June 4, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
