Join the Golden Planning Division on December 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for a virtual community meeting to discuss a 2020 update of the South Golden Neighborhoods Plan.
Staff will review the results of our summer surveys and take additional feedback from attendees. This will be the perfect opportunity to get involved with the project, even if you missed the initial surveys; there will be additional questions to refine our understanding of those initial results. Parents and caregivers of school-aged children are invited to join Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) for a telephone town hall on August 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., to discuss how to protect students from COVID-19 as the next school year begins. There will be panelists from JCPH, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and Colorado Academy on the call to share tips and answer your questions. Representative Ed Perlmutter and Jefferson County Commissioner Tracy Kraft-Tharp will also be on the panel.

This year the Golden Gallop will offer a HYBRID event, with an in-person race on September 19, or an option to complete a race during a ‘virtual’ race window from Sept. 11 to Sept. 19. Choose from multiple race options, including a Kid’s Fun Run, a 5K and a 10K. Whether in-person or virtual, kids, families, and friends from all over are encouraged to participate. The event raises funds for the Golden Schools Foundation which provides educational funding for seven Golden articulation schools.
“Parenting in a Pandemic” is part of a series of FREE classes offered for Golden area residents offered by the Rotary Club of Golden. The Mental Wellness Initiative focuses on promoting mental well-being in teens and kids.
Any type of tragedy, including the COVID-19 pandemic, can leave caretakers struggling to find what to say and how to connect with their youth. How do we help kids feel safe and secure in a world that doesn’t feel that way? This class covers how to help kids cope, strategies for care givers to utilize to support feelings of control for them and their young people, and how caregivers themselves can take care of their emotions.
Speaker Chelsea Vibert (LPC) is the clinical coordinator for Colorado Spirit, a team working with those impacted by COVID-19 through Jefferson Center. She received her Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology and specializes in trauma-based treatments, such as EMDR and TF-CBT. Prior to this role, she provided individual, group, and family therapy to students in Jefferson County schools, as well as providing professional development for educators and administrators on mental health and trauma.

The United States Marine Corps Memorial Foundation will hold the annual ceremony for Veterans Day on 
Saturday, November 6 at 2 p.m.
The ceremony, honoring veterans and the 100 year anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, will feature Guest Speaker Cmdr. Jason Pratt, USN (Retired) along with a music program. The 13 US troops fallen on August 26th will also be honored, and a parade float of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier will be on site.
This year the USMC Memorial has been expanded to collect donations for the Toys for Tots program.
Bring your donations for the Toys for Tots donation drop-off from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
