The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission public hearings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month.

The Golden City Council meets in Council Chambers in City Hall every second and fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m., unless rescheduled due to holidays or other events happening in the City.

Join us for this special meeting as the Golden City Clerk swears in three people to Council positions. Laura Weinberg will be sworn in as Mayor, JJ Trout will be sworn in as District One Councilor, and Casey Brown will continue a second term as District Two Councilor.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) implements urban renewal projects consistent with community values.

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of seven members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.

The Economic Development Commission meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. If a meeting must be rescheduled for some reason, the date will be noted on the Community Calendar.

Join us for a community conversation on Wednesday, January 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Golden Community Center to learn about the results of our recent food assessment. You’ll also have the opportunity to give your input on strategies to increase food security in our community.

Both dinner and childcare will be provided free of charge. Please help us anticipate numbers and register online for your free ticket.

The Golden City Council may meet in study session when necessary. These meetings are informational only and no public hearing or votes will take place, but the public is welcome to attend.

Do you have great ideas about sustainability in Golden? Are you ready to dive in and turn the community’s sustainability ideas into action? If so, mark your calendars for an upcoming sustainability task force meeting.

The Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is looking for interested residents, local experts, and community activists to help in the following tasks:

• Identify data and resources needed to determine impacts.
• Review drafts of the 2020 Sustainability Strategic Plan.
• Help campaign for top priorities.

Each task force meeting will focus on one of the three sustainability goal areas : Water, Waste and Energy. Community members are invited to participate in one or more task forces of interest. To participate, simply show up to one of the task force meetings listed below. Refreshments will be provided.

The mission of the Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is to assist the City of Golden in achieving the ten-year sustainability goals. In order to facilitate achievement of these goals, the Board will lead, encourage, enable, and empower the citizens, visitors, and people who work in Golden, to live in a sustainable manner.

The Community Sustainability Advisory Board will meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., unless rescheduled for holidays or a lack of quorum. Meetings are open to the public.
