On Saturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center. Join in the holiday spirit and watch floats, clowns, festive holiday characters, and Santa Claus on the firetruck parade down Washington Avenue. After the parades, head to the downtown area shops and restaurants. Each parade is different, providing the perfect reason to bring the family back to Golden again and again!

The route is down Washington Avenue from 11th to 13th Streets through historic downtown, with lots of activities before and after. The parades are presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce. Go to www.VisitGolden.com for more information.

The Golden City Council meets in Council Chambers in City Hall every second and fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m., unless rescheduled due to holidays or other events happening in the City.

Join us for this special meeting as the Golden City Clerk swears in three people to Council positions. Laura Weinberg will be sworn in as Mayor, JJ Trout will be sworn in as District One Councilor, and Casey Brown will continue a second term as District Two Councilor.

The Colorado School of Mines will host a free screening of the major motion picture, “Dark Waters” on January 28 at 7 p.m. in the Bunker Auditorium on the Colorado School of Mines campus. The public is welcome and tickets are not required.

This free screening is offered in advance of the keynote address and panel hosted on January 29, featuring Rob Bilott, the environmental attorney who inspired the film.
