Mayor’s Community Event 2017 @ CSM Green Center
Oct 3 @ 6:30 pm

The tradition continues, as Golden’s Mayor Marjorie Sloan hosts a fun event to honor outstanding individuals and organizations for their exceptional contributions to Golden. This will be the 7th year for the Mayor’s Community Celebration, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3 at the Green Center on the Colorado School of Mines campus.

Last year the City partnered with Mines for a truly impressive event, complete with the school’s marching band and singing groups, a special recognition from Congressman Ed Perlmutter, and much more. Because it was such a huge success, the City is again partnering with Mines, and this year we will celebrate entrepreneurship and innovation. Mayor Sloan wants to highlight the innovations that have come from Mines and our community which positively impact Golden businesses and residents, or humanity as a whole.

You won’t believe some of the amazing things happening in Golden! This will be the most fun and interactive Community Celebration yet, with demonstrations and displays for you to explore. The winners of this year’s Mayor’s Awards for Excellence will also be awarded at that time.

Oct 27 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Rocky Mountain Quilt MuseumThe Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum (RMQM) is proud to host an exhibition of modern quilts from a talented group of modern quilters — The Denver Metro Modern Quilt Guild. On display from October 23 to February 3, 2018, How New Is Modern will provide all visitors to the museum with a fresh exploration of long favored traditional patterns, encouraging discussion between traditional and modern quilters. Also on display will be a collection of favorite quilts from the Museum’s collection, including the traditional quilts that inspired How New Is Modern.
