Each year, more than one million Coloradans experience a mental health or substance use disorder, yet only half get the care they need. The result: Increased hospitalization, homelessness, incarceration, and one of the highest suicide rates in the nation.
How do we make Colorado a national leader in the prevention and treatment of mental illness? Join Andrew Romanoff, former Speaker of the Colorado House and the current President and CEO of Mental Health Colorado, as he leads a discussion on the benefits of early intervention—and the costs of inaction.

What happens to the people caught in the middle when the rise of extreme energy leads into the end of economic growth?
That’s the question the movie “To the Ends of the Earth” explores, interviewing people caught in the middle. There’s the Inuit mayor in Canada’s high Arctic concerned about oil exploration’s impact on the animals the Inuit hunt to survive. Or the environmental lawyer who learns how economically unsustainable and destructive Alberta’s Tarsands are. Or the river conservationist in Utah fighting to protect the Colorado River from oil shale projects.
“To the Ends of the Earth” not only features voices against extreme energy, but also envisions the new world that is taking shape in its stead: a future beyond the resource pyramid, a post-growth economy.
The movie is free but donations are gratefully accepted. Please register for this free event online.
Some food and drinks will be available. BYOB. Stay for the discussion after the presentation.
This event is sponsored by 350 colorado, CRES, Sierra Club Denver Chapter, Jefferson Unitarian Church – Green Task Force.
This statewide movement celebrates and encourages philanthropy in Colorado with a local focus. Celebrating the theme “Give where you live” Colorado Gives Day makes giving locally easy by allowing people to go to one website www.coloradogives.org where they can find local charitable organizations they care about all in one place. You can sort by cause or location to find the perfect charity that speaks to you. The actual day is December 5, 2017, but give early and get ahead of the curve! Or if you can’t give now, the site is up all year long, so give when you can.
