The Golden City Council meets in Council Chambers in City Hall every second and fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m., unless rescheduled due to holidays or other events happening in the city.

Come share craft beers with Councilor Casey Brown at the home of Ken Jacobs on Saturday, April 14 starting at 3 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to talk with a representative and fellow residents of the neighborhoods in north Golden, as well as any issue related to the good of Golden.

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a special district entity authorized and directed by state statute to benefit the economic and community vitality of the downtown area. The DDA will also be authorized to provide tax increment economic incentives to eligible redevelopment projects, much like GURA was able to do in the past.

The DDA meets on the third Monday of each month (unless otherwise noted on the calendar) at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.

The Parks, Recreation & Museums Advisory Board was created in 1982 in order to increase community involvement, and to advise Golden City Council and staff on how to best provide safe and comprehensive parks and recreation facilities, programs, and services on behalf of all current and future residents of the City of Golden.

The board consists of seven members and one alternate who serve four-year terms, making suggestions about policies and procedures, fees and charges, acceptance of park land, design of parks, and other projects relating to the Parks and Recreation Department.

The board meets regularly at 7 p.m. in the Community Center on the third Tuesday of each month. For more information, please visit our Parks and Recreation Advisory Board page. The Citizens Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) was created by the City Manager to advise City staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual City budget. Participation in CBAC is an opportunity not only to advise on the prioritization of how City tax dollars are spent, but also to advise our policymakers in their decision-making process.

CBAC meets the third Wednesday of each month, March through November, at 7:30 a.m. in the Golden City Hall Council Chambers.

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month. Study Sessions are open to the public, but are for information only, and no public hearings or votes will take place during the meeting. To participate in a Planning Commission public hearing, those meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers (unless otherwise noted).

What:  Public Open House session for Mines Master Plan project
When: April 19, 2018, 5:30 –7 p.m.
Where:  Starzer Welcome Center – 1812 Illinois Street

The public is invited to an open house to offer input into the Mines Master Plan. The video presents the alternative development concepts that have emerged from our earlier master planning meetings. Anyone planning to come to the meeting is encouraged to watch the entire video in advance to prepare for discussion at the meeting.

At this session, the public is invited to comment on alternatives to the physical plan. The alternatives in the video were derived from campus and public input compiled during the previous months. This session is geared towards receiving input from the City of Golden and the public at large.
