Toby’s Pet Parade & Fair @ Downtown Golden

Toby's Pet Parade Fire DogDress up your pup and join about 2,000 other animal lovers for a parade and fair in downtown Golden.

Hundreds of pups in costume will stroll down Washington Avenue and end in Parfet Park for a family-friendly fair.

The parade is free to watch, while parade entrants are $25 per pup. Proceeds of this annual event benefit the more than 12,000 animals that Foothills Animal Shelter cares for annually.

Santa rides on a float and waves in the Olde Golden Christmas ParadeOn Saturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center. Join in the holiday spirit and watch floats, clowns, festive holiday characters, and Santa Claus on the firetruck parade down Washington Avenue. After the parades, head to the downtown area shops and restaurants. Each parade is different, providing the perfect reason to bring the family back to Golden again and again!

The route is down Washington Avenue from 11th to 13th Streets through historic downtown, with lots of activities before and after. The parades are presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce. Go to www.VisitGolden.com for more information.

National Public Land Day Clear Creek Cleanup @ Meet Behind the Public Works & Planning Building

National Public Lands Day Sept 24 2022Join your neighbors for a day of celebration and community service on National Public Land Day! The City of Golden, in partnership with Jefferson County Open Space and the City of Wheat Ridge, is sponsoring a Clear Creek Clean-up.

Participants will be working along a 22 mile stretch of the Peaks to Plains Trail along Clear Creek. Past efforts have resulted in the collection of 12,220 pounds of trash. Mismanaged trash that escapes into waterways can create a wide range of problems. Aquatic trash affects water quality, endangers plants and animals, and pollutes the outdoor spaces that we depend on for tourism and recreation.

The canyon will be closed for this very special event.

Volunteers must Sign up online to participate in this special day of community service.

Afterwards, be sure to join a post-project celebration at the Gateway Trailhead in Golden. Volunteers will be treated to live music, free food from a handful of food trucks and beer for individuals 21 years of age and older.

Volunteers can check in at the table on the patio anytime beginning at 7:30 a.m. and help for as long as their schedule allows, or until 10 a.m., when we usually finish up.

  • Wear appropriate clothing, which may include long pants, long-sleeved shirts, hats, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
  • Don’t forget sunscreen, insect repellent, and a water bottle!
  • Check in at the table on the patio to sign in and receive any necessary gear and instructions for the activity.
  • Safety vests, gloves, bags/buckets, and other needed tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own work gloves and trash collection bags if you’d prefer.
