Planning Commission Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission public hearings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, unless rescheduled. Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month.

Golden Super Cruise 2019 @ South Golden Road

Super Cruise carOnce a month, car lovers gather along South Golden Road to watch hot rods, classic cars, and custom rides of all kinds do what they do best – cruise! This is Colorado’s biggest annual car cruise, and it happens on the first Saturday of each month, May through October.

Historic Preservation Board Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets on the first Monday evening of each month in public hearing in the City Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled the third Monday of each month.

Economic Development Commission Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of seven members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.

The Economic Development Commission meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th Street. If a meeting must be rescheduled for some reason, the date will be noted on the Community Calendar.

Organic Compost Facility Tour @ City Hall

Compost facilityAs part of the City’s waste diversion goals, we transport recyclables and yard waste to regional facilities. Join us on an upcoming tour of the organic compost facility on October 10.

In this behind-the-scenes tour on October 10, you will see how your food and yard waste is processed into a valuable soil amendment. The City’s waste contractor, Alpine Waste and Recycling, operates a Class II compost processing facility at its East Regional Landfill campus, where it actively turns Golden’s collected compostable material into nutrient rich and valuable compost for sale to the landscaping and agricultural industries.

How to Participate
Participants should plan to meet at City Hall (911 10th St, Golden) at 1:30 p.m. Transportation to the facility will be provided and it is about an hour drive. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather as the tour is outside. Expect the tour to last an hour. The tour will return to Golden around 6 p.m. Space is limited, so sign up today by emailing goldensustainabilty@cityofgolden.net.

Materials Recycling Facility Tour @ City Hall

Alpine Waste Recycling FacilityAs part of the City’s waste diversion goals, we transport recyclables and yard waste to regional facilities. Join us on an upcoming tour of the Materials Recycling Facility (MERF) on October 11.

Open your eyes to the fascinating world of recycling! Where does my Recycling go? Can I leave the tops on my containers? How do tiny pieces of glass get sorted? What’s the deal with China anyway? All of these questions and more will be answered during a tour on October 11.

How to Participate
Participants should plan to meet at City Hall (911 10th St, Golden) at 2:30 p.m. Transportation to the facility will be provided. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Expect the tour to last around an hour and a half. The tour will return to Golden around 5:30 p.m. Space is limited, so sign up today by emailing goldensustainabilty@cityofgolden.net.

Knock your Boots Off Beer Tasting & Chili Cook-off @ Parfet Park

Beer Tasting and Chili Cook-OffThe 12th Annual “Knock Your Boots Off” Beer Tasting & Chili Cook-Off is an opportunity for beer and chili to take center stage near the heart of historic downtown Golden. 

This annual fall event offers beer and chili tasting, along with live entertainment, food vendors, corporate exhibitors and a silent auction. 

The Beer Tasting & Chili Cook-Off takes place in Parfet Park, (SE corner of Washington Ave & 10th Street) just adjacent to downtown Golden, Colorado.

The event was created to benefit the Golden Chamber of Commerce and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

GOGO Goosetown 5k & Festival @ Goosetown Neighborhood

GOGO Goosetown 5k & Festival logoHelp support the Golden Volunteer Fire Department while enjoying a 5k fun run through beautiful Golden followed by music, food trucks, local craft beer and a classic car show!

The event starts and ends in the Historic Goosetown neighborhood, 514 9th St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The race entry fee is $30 with $10 of every entry donated to the Golden Fire Foundation. In addition, 100 % of vendor fees and sponsorships will also go directly to the Golden Volunteer Fire Dept.
