Jeffco Open Space (JCOS) will host two community meetings, on Tuesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 19 from 5:30 – 7 p.m., about the potential Heritage Square Land Exchange. Both meetings will take place at the Origins Hotel Red Rocks, 18485 W Colfax Ave.
In 2019, JCOS received a proposal for a land exchange with Martin Marietta Materials (MMM). The proposed HSE agreement includes the exchange of 64 acres of JCOS property to expand the current Specification/Aggregate mine located on US 40, north of I-70, for approximately 131 acres of MMM property.
The public is encouraged to join one of the upcoming community meetings to learn more about, and comment on, the proposed exchange. Each meeting will include a presentation and question/answer session.
On Wednesday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m., the City of Golden will host refining workshops in City Council Chambers to discuss Heart of Golden 2020 and the Clear Creek Corridor.
This workshop will begin with a project update and will have a feedback activity, which will allow direct community comments and suggestions.
The key questions for the community to address at this workshop are:
- What do you like most about each option presented?
- What do you like least?
- What is missing?
Join us for this unique opportunity to help plan the future and create a legacy in the heart of Golden. Learn more about the project on GuidingGolden.com.
* A message from JeffCo Open Space: Due to escalating concerns over COVID-19 and to prioritize the health and safety of our employees and community, we have decided to cancel the second Heritage Square Exchange Community Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, March 19. The City of Golden will be holding a virtual town hall to kick-off the design process for the US 6 & Heritage Road interchange on Wednesday, July 29 at 6 p.m.
The town hall will start with a presentation that provides background on the interchange and US 6 Corridor and information about the scope and timing of the design process. The meeting will use interactive tools so that participants can provide staff and the design team with input on the community’s desired outcomes from a new interchange and how the project can best meet Golden’s values and goals. The design team will use information gathered from the community in this meeting to start the design process and develop interchange alternatives for further community input.
This town hall will use the Zoom meeting platform and will require you to register in advance.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
We hope that you will join us live on July 29. If you are unable to join us, a video of the meeting will be posted by July 31 on Guiding Golden and input will be accepted through August 14.
If you participate on Facebook live, you will have an opportunity to send in your questions as the Mayor and City Manager are talking.
