Join the Planning Commission and Community Sustainability Advisory Board subgroup to discuss sustainable energy buildings and ideas for amendments to the residential green building standards, also known as the Residential Sustainability Menu, Section 18.24 of the Golden Municipal Code. This subgroup will focus on:
- Gap analysis What requirements are needed and when to project at our sustainability goals?
- what, why, when?
- Review of precedence from other communities / City in and outside of Colorado
- Possible measures
- Prioritization of appropriate, effective policy measures to close gaps.
- Regulations, incentives, education, etc.
- Through Golden only or other institutions?
- Identification of affected stakeholders
- Next steps and information gaps
- Summary of final recommendations

Although the annual Candlelight Walk is cancelled, the holiday spirit will still be illuminated throughout Golden.
On Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., there will be a virtual live stream of Golden Mayor Laura Weinberg throwing the switch to illuminate downtown Golden’s annual holiday lights. From their homes, Golden residents are invited to share their Golden light by placing candles in their windows and displaying all season long in festive citywide solidarity.
To make sure your house gets a commemorative candle, call the Golden Chamber of Commerce at 303-279-3113 or stop by On Tap Credit Union, 816 Washington Avenue (while supplies last), after Nov. 30 to pick one up.
** Please use only electric candles.

The zoning code rewrite consultants are making the finishing touches to the initial code draft and it will be available to the public in late January. You are invited to join a virtual community meeting on Jan. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. This meeting is intended to educate the community on the code’s contents and how it has been constructed. Upon the release of the draft, the community will have approximately one month to review it, make comments, and provide those comments to the Planning Division and the consultants for consideration.
