Any type of tragedy, including the COVID-19 pandemic, can leave caretakers struggling to find what to say and how to connect with their youth. How do we help kids feel safe and secure in a world that doesn’t feel that way? This class covers how to help kids cope, strategies for care givers to utilize to support feelings of control for them and their young people, and how caregivers themselves can take care of their emotions.

Speaker Chelsea Vibert (LPC) is the clinical coordinator for Colorado Spirit, a team working with those impacted by COVID-19 through Jefferson Center. She received her Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology and specializes in trauma-based treatments, such as EMDR and TF-CBT. Prior to this role, she provided individual, group, and family therapy to students in Jefferson County schools, as well as providing professional development for educators and administrators on mental health and trauma.

This class will be offered in person and on Zoom, for those who wish to join virtually.  Use the links below to register for the class.

National Public Land Day Clear Creek Cleanup @ Meet Behind the Public Works & Planning Building
Sep 24 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

National Public Lands Day Sept 24 2022Join your neighbors for a day of celebration and community service on National Public Land Day! The City of Golden, in partnership with Jefferson County Open Space and the City of Wheat Ridge, is sponsoring a Clear Creek Clean-up.

Participants will be working along a 22 mile stretch of the Peaks to Plains Trail along Clear Creek. Past efforts have resulted in the collection of 12,220 pounds of trash. Mismanaged trash that escapes into waterways can create a wide range of problems. Aquatic trash affects water quality, endangers plants and animals, and pollutes the outdoor spaces that we depend on for tourism and recreation.

The canyon will be closed for this very special event.

Volunteers must Sign up online to participate in this special day of community service.

Afterwards, be sure to join a post-project celebration at the Gateway Trailhead in Golden. Volunteers will be treated to live music, free food from a handful of food trucks and beer for individuals 21 years of age and older.
