The Colorado School of Mines is developing a new master plan in conjunction with the MINES@150 plan. Mines will hold the first of three neighborhood meetings over the next several months, to gather public input for the master plan.
The meeting will be held in the Starzer Welcome Center at Colorado School of Mines, 1812 Illinois Street on Thursday, March 8, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Enter on the north side of the building from 18th St. Upon entering, the meeting room is to the right.
Parking is located in lot E on the west side of the building. Parking is free after 5 p.m.
The GURA Meeting on March 12th will be a walking tour of the Central Neighborhoods led by Steve Glueck. If you are interested in attending, please meet at the Natural Grocers at 5:30. The tour will last approximately one hour.
In 1989, the Golden City Council created the Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) to support the economic vitality of downtown Golden. When the Golden City Council created GURA, it also adopted an Urban Renewal Plan to provide guidance to GURA. The organization implements urban renewal projects, consistent with community values.
The Golden Urban Renewal Authority normally meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. Please note the time and location change for the March 12, 2018 meeting.

The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department, except for the June class, which will be on Tuesday, June 12 in Council Chambers. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

The Golden Investment Forum Task Force will host a community Open House on March 14, 4:30 to 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers to kick off the community engagement focus of the project.
The Open House is expected to include information on the types of potential investment projects the Task Force is researching under their duties as assigned by Council.
Jeffco Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jason Glass, will moderate a panel discussion on school safety from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, at Lakewood High School (9700 W. 8th Ave).
School security staff, local law enforcement, and other community partners will share information with the community on how we all work together on school safety. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues. The meeting will also be livestreamed .

The Golden Investment Forum Task Force is charged with outreach to the community to review the community amenities, enhancements, and improvements proposed in recent years to determine the amount of community support for these proposals.
Be on the lookout for news of one of the many public forums that will be scheduled as the year progresses. All committee meetings are open to the public.

Golden contracted with the engineering firm Bohannan Huston to conduct an independent, third party review of the roundabouts on Heritage Road and the traffic calming on Eagle Ridge Drive.
A public presentation of their final engineering report will take place April 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shelton Elementary School Library, 420 Crawford St.

What: Public Open House session for Mines Master Plan project
When: April 19, 2018, 5:30 –7 p.m.
Where: Starzer Welcome Center – 1812 Illinois Street
The public is invited to an open house to offer input into the Mines Master Plan. The video presents the alternative development concepts that have emerged from our earlier master planning meetings. Anyone planning to come to the meeting is encouraged to watch the entire video in advance to prepare for discussion at the meeting.
At this session, the public is invited to comment on alternatives to the physical plan. The alternatives in the video were derived from campus and public input compiled during the previous months. This session is geared towards receiving input from the City of Golden and the public at large.
The Rotary Club of Golden is organizing and sponsoring a Community Wellness Fair from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at Golden High School, 701 24th St. The purpose of the Fair is to provide and identify resources for those who are dealing with mental illness issues, particularly within their own family, as well as those who simply want to be more informed on the subject.
The Fair is free and includes classes, presentations, food, entertainment, games and other activities designed to attract a broad audience.
Mental health professionals will lead twelve different classes on subjects such as anxiety, bullying, substance abuse and other important topics. The Fair also includes a showing of the film Inside Out. For a complete list of classes and details, visit goldenrotary.org/fair.
