Golden Civic Foundation Auction & Gala @ Colorado School of Mines Lockridge Arena
Oct 20 @ 5:00 pm

2018 Golden Civic Foundation Auction and GalaThe Golden Civic Foundation Auction and Gala brings together Goldenites for a night of fun and to raise money for our town. This year, the event has moved to the Colorado School of Mines Lockridge Arena in order to accommodate the large number of guests. The sock-hop themed event begins at 5 p.m. and includes dinner, a cash bar, live and silent auctions, and live music by the Rockslide dance band. Get ready to rock around the clock!

The funds from the Gala and Auction support the Golden Civic Foundation’s Community Grant Program. Over the past 43 years, this program raised more than $5.3 million, all of which was reinvested back into the Golden community to support charitable organizations, public schools, museums, and cultural centers in the area.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at GoldenCivicFoundation.org/gala-auction. You can also call 303-279-9169 or email Executive Director Heather Schneider at Heather@GoldenCivicFoundation.org with any questions.

This event sells out every year, so don’t wait to get your tickets!

Time Capsule Unveiling @ Golden History Museum
Nov 11 @ 11:00 am

Time CapsuleOn Veteran’s Day, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, the City of Golden and Golden History Museum & Park will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I with a day of celebration, programs, and free admission. The Museum opens at 10 a.m. and ceremonies begin at 11 a.m.

The 1968 time capsule that has been buried in the sidewalk next to Golden’s Liberty Bell in front of City Hall for the past 50 years will be opened and its contents unveiled for the public to see at the Golden History Museum, 923 10th St.

The time capsule tradition began in 1918 when Golden residents buried the first one in honor of the end of WWI and asked that the people of 1968 open it. The next generation dutifully opened the capsule and buried another for us to celebrate and experience in 2018. In the same tradition, we will bury a time capsule with items representing our times for the people of 2068 to open.
