A project years in the making, the interchange at US 6 and 19th Street, known as the Linking Lookout project, is almost complete and you are invited to a ceremony celebrating this remarkable achievement.
Although planning for the project started many years ago, construction actually began on February 8, 2016. In the year and a half since ground broke on the Linking Lookout project, drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians have all weathered road and trail closures, traffic delays, detours and, let’s face it, general travel frustrations. But we hope most agree that it’s all been worth it now that the project is almost complete!
Join us in the park on top of the 19th Street bridge over US 6 on Sunday, October 1, at 2 p.m., have a look at the finished product and help us celebrate a job well done. We will also unveil the artwork which will adorn the park lid!
You can learn more about the Linking Lookout project, including project phases and project history at LinkingLookout.com.

Enjoy a delicious four-course meal made with ingredients from our local farming partners and prepared in collaboration with local chefs and restaurateurs.
The event happens in Parfet Park from 4 to 6:30 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $100 per seat or $800 per table. Learn more and register at www.gofarmcoop.org/events.
The tradition continues, as Golden’s Mayor Marjorie Sloan hosts a fun event to honor outstanding individuals and organizations for their exceptional contributions to Golden. This will be the 7th year for the Mayor’s Community Celebration, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3 at the Green Center on the Colorado School of Mines campus.
Last year the City partnered with Mines for a truly impressive event, complete with the school’s marching band and singing groups, a special recognition from Congressman Ed Perlmutter, and much more. Because it was such a huge success, the City is again partnering with Mines, and this year we will celebrate entrepreneurship and innovation. Mayor Sloan wants to highlight the innovations that have come from Mines and our community which positively impact Golden businesses and residents, or humanity as a whole.
You won’t believe some of the amazing things happening in Golden! This will be the most fun and interactive Community Celebration yet, with demonstrations and displays for you to explore. The winners of this year’s Mayor’s Awards for Excellence will also be awarded at that time.
Celebrate Golden History Museum with delicious food from the Old Capitol Grill & Smokehouse, cocktails and entertainment at the annual Black & White Night event. Normally, Black & White Night coincides with the opening of a new exhibit, but this year, we’ll be giving a fond send off to three exhibits as we prepare for renovation construction at the museum. Get a glimpse of construction plans, discover newly acquired artifacts, and join the excitement as we prepare to undergo a complete transformation of the Museum!
Dress to impress in your best black and white finery! Purchase your tickets in advance at www.goldenhistory.org/BWN. Tickets are $75 individual or $140 for a pair.
