The Golden Civic Foundation Auction and Gala brings together Goldenites for a night of fun and to raise money for our town. This year, the event has moved to the Colorado School of Mines Lockridge Arena in order to accommodate the large number of guests. The sock-hop themed event begins at 5 p.m. and includes dinner, a cash bar, live and silent auctions, and live music by the Rockslide dance band. Get ready to rock around the clock!
The funds from the Gala and Auction support the Golden Civic Foundation’s Community Grant Program. Over the past 43 years, this program raised more than $5.3 million, all of which was reinvested back into the Golden community to support charitable organizations, public schools, museums, and cultural centers in the area.

The 5th annual Be A Tool 5k Run (On Small Business Saturday) is being held to help support the growth of the Neighborhood Rehab Project. In September of this year, over 1,000 volunteers came together in Golden, Arvada, Englewood and Idaho Springs to help work on projects for folks in need of warm, safe and dry conditions. Proceeds from this race will go directly toward future projects in 2018 and 2019.

The 5K Elf Run will start under the Golden (“Howdy Folks”) arch on Washington street in Golden at 8:30 a.m. Walk up registration and race day packet pick up will take place in front of Cafe 13 on Thirteenth Street in front of the Armory building.
Enjoy a performance of traditional holiday music plus Rossini’s Cinderella Overture and selections from Grieg’s Peer Gynt, Suites No. 1 and 2. The performance will feature special guest vocalists La Tanya Hall and Steven Taylor.
There will be two shows on December 2 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., both at the United Methodist Church, 7530 W. 39th Ave. A holiday silent auction will open for bidding at the conclusion of the matinee concert and close at the end of intermission of the evening concert.
Golden residents can also take advantage of a free shuttle this year! The shuttle will be at the Golden Visitor Center at 10th and Washington, departing at 2 p.m. for the matinee performance and at 6 p.m. for the evening performance. The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

On Wednesday, January 30, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., join Jeffco Open Space at the Golden Community Center for a brief presentation on the next segment of the Peaks to Plains Trail in the mouth of Clear Creek Canyon. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions of Jeffco Open Space staff.
