Imagine helping your neighbors and fellow residents on what could be the worst day of their lives. The Golden Fire Department (GFD) is in search of men and women who live in Golden who want to become part of the City’s amazing team of volunteer firefighters.

By joining the GFD, you learn much more than how to put out fires. You will learn medical rescue techniques, high angle rescue, swift water and ice rescue, how to save people from car crashes, and much more. You will be helping your neighbors, friends and fellow residents in one of the most long-standing and honorable ways possible for Golden volunteers.

Do you want to learn more about what it takes and if you would be the right fit for the GFD? Join us for one of two open houses to meet the staff and volunteers and get all of your questions answered. Come enjoy free food and refreshments and let us get to know you! The Golden Investment Forum Task Force is charged with outreach to the community to review the community amenities, enhancements, and improvements proposed in recent years to determine the amount of community support for these proposals.

Be on the lookout for news of one of the many public forums that will be scheduled as the year progresses. All committee meetings are open to the public.

Please join the City of Golden’s Planning Commission and staff for a public workshop hosted by the City’s transportation consultant. This workshop will discuss mobility within the City of Golden and how it will relate to the new Transportation Master Plan. Your input is needed to help create the plan! The event will be held on Thursday, December 6, 6 – 8 p.m. at the Golden Community Center. Food will be provided.

On Wednesday, January 30, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., join Jeffco Open Space at the Golden Community Center for a brief presentation on the next segment of the Peaks to Plains Trail in the mouth of Clear Creek Canyon. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions of Jeffco Open Space staff.

The mission of the Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is to assist the City of Golden in achieving the ten-year sustainability goals. In order to facilitate achievement of these goals, the Board will lead, encourage, enable, and empower the citizens, visitors, and people who work in Golden, to live in a sustainable manner.

The Community Sustainability Advisory Board will hold a special meeting on February 5, 2019, to discuss their 2019 Work Plan and Sustainability Draft Goals. The meeting is open to the public.
