On Sunday, September 23, 2018 Golden’s biggest annual race will take place for the 13th year running. Starting beneath the City’s famous ‘Welcome’ arch, right in the center of historic downtown Golden, and finishing in Parfet Park beside gushing Clear Creek, the Golden Gallop will lead its runners on 5k and 10k loops. Both runners and walkers are welcome!

A Golden tradition, the Knock Your Boots Off Chili Cook-Off and Beer Tasting is now in its 11th year!
General admission tickets include free samples from over 30 chili competitors, 90 different beers (courtesy of Coors Distributing), and a live show by country faves Buckstein!
Chili cooks compete for the People’s Choice award in three categories: Red Chili, Green Chili, and White Chili.
A portion of the proceeds goes towards the Golden Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Fund for Golden High School and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. in Parfet Park, corner of 10th Street and Washington Avenue.

The Railroad Halloween Town is a safe place to enjoy Trick or Treating. Catch a ride behind a historic Denver & Rio Grande Steam Locomotive in vintage passenger cars hosted by conductors and engineers in full costume.
Visit all of the special stops to fill your treat bags and tickle your funny bones including the “not so spooky” Haunted Railcar and the Olde Railroaders Silly Graveyard. Enjoy local food, kettle corn, shaved ice and even get your face painted. Finally, get a great picture of your costume as you pose in front of the Pumpkin Patch cart. The 5th annual Be A Tool 5k Run (On Small Business Saturday) is being held to help support the growth of the Neighborhood Rehab Project. In September of this year, over 1,000 volunteers came together in Golden, Arvada, Englewood and Idaho Springs to help work on projects for folks in need of warm, safe and dry conditions. Proceeds from this race will go directly toward future projects in 2018 and 2019.

The 5K Elf Run will start under the Golden (“Howdy Folks”) arch on Washington street in Golden at 8:30 a.m. Walk up registration and race day packet pick up will take place in front of Cafe 13 on Thirteenth Street in front of the Armory building.

The free Olde Golden Christmas Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. with cowboys on horses, floats, bands, old cars, elves on unicycles, the Grinch in his corvette, and of course, Santa Claus.
The parade winds down Washington Avenue with lots of activities before and after including snappy barbershop quartets, hot cider, Victorian carolers, and antique fire trucks. The parades are presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce.
