OFA Talks: Public Policies That Affect Us All @ American Mountaineering Center
Nov 14 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

OFA TalksOFA TALKS is a new and unique forum focused around 12 minute talks on policies affecting each of us— from healthcare to tax policy; “green” technologies to the carbon industries and education.  It’s fast, fun, informative, and full of facts. People from all walks of life are welcome and encouraged to attend.

This OFA TALKS event will have five speakers and two moderated, Q&A sessions.

1) What the Heck is TABOR & Why Should I Care?
TABOR influences virtually every aspect of government in Colorado. State Representative and Member of the House Finance Committee Chris Kennedy will provide an overview of TABOR and what you can do to learn more about this important tax policy.

2) Rebuilding America in 3 Easy Steps
“Net Zero” has become the latest buzzword for city planning, but what does it mean, really? Aurora former Director of Planning & Development Bob Watkins will explain how America is about to be rebuilt, again, and things we can do to insure a sustainable future for us all.

3) Colorado Education Network: The Promise of Colorado
Educator Janet Gunn will talk about how public education is literally the foundation of our future. Even if you don’t have children or grandchildren, you do have a personal interest in our future community members.

4) The Oil Industry: What the Frack?
Carbon-based fuels are a vast improvement on their predecessors, but how do we move to improved energy conversion that will power the planet in a clean and more efficient manner? Conservationist and entrepreneur John R. (Grizz) Deal will give us a jump start on this important issue

5) Getting a Pulse on Healthcare
How does healthcare affect you? Is healthcare “infrastructure” or just a nice thing to have? Doctor Irene Aguilar will diagnose the issues.

All money collected will go to the JeffCo Action Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people on the pathway to self-sufficiency. With $3 you can provide funding for one meal!
Limited seating is available! Purchase your tickets in advance or at the door, if available.
