The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office is hosting its 8th Annual Senior Law Day on June 2, offering educational seminars for seniors and for adults who may be facing challenges with aging parents.

This year there will be 24 valuable workshops, including topics on Medicare/Medicaid Issues, Estate Planning, Wills/Trusts, End of Life Issues, Powers-of-Attorney, Probate, Conservatorship and Guardianship, Investment Fraud, and more. Attorneys and representatives from a variety of community resources will be also available to answer individual questions. The “Ask-an-Attorney” feature offers free 15-minute consultations.

Senior Law Day will be held at the Jefferson County courthouse, 100 Jefferson County Parkway, in Golden, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 2.

Registration is only $10 and includes a continental breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, and the new Colorado Senior Law Handbook, a publication of the Colorado Bar Association. Payment must made by check or money order. Learn more on the Jeffco website.

Join alums and board members of Leadership Golden for a casual gathering on Thursday night, July 12 at 5 p.m. for free appetizers and a cash bar to learn all about this unique educational experience.

This tuition-free program offers sessions one night per month, Sept through May, introducing Golden citizens to city government, history, public finance, education, parks, public safety services, and much more. Join the group for this casual meet and greet on July 12 to see what it’s all about, then apply for the program to meet the July 31 deadline for the 2018-2019 35^th anniversary class. The Public Art Commission (PAC) invites the community to Foothills Art Center on Wednesday, July 18 at 6 p.m., to meet commission members, discuss current and future projects, and give input on the public art process and direction in Golden.

This event is free to the public and light refreshments will be provided.

VAN-DEMONIUM is your chance to drool over vans and draw inspiration for your own adventure rig! Adventure rigs come in many shapes and sizes—from Sprinters with all the bells and whistles to the family mini-van with a home done conversion. This event will have vans on vans, plus beer, live music, games, and raffles so there’s something for every member of the family.

Hosted by Foothills Climbing Community, in partnership with American Mountaineering Museum. Beer from 14er Brewing Company. Vans from TouRig, Vanworks, and more.

The Colorado School of Mines will conduct the next and final Neighborhood Open House to present the draft of the Mines Master Plan. Please join us to see how the campus will evolve over the coming years.

By joining the GFD, you learn much more than how to put out fires. You will learn medical rescue techniques, high angle rescue, swift water and ice rescue, how to save people from car crashes, and much more. You will be helping your neighbors, friends and fellow residents in one of the most long-standing and honorable ways possible for Golden volunteers.

Do you want to learn more about what it takes and if you would be the right fit for the GFD? Join us for one of two open houses to meet the staff and volunteers and get all of your questions answered. Come enjoy free food and refreshments and let us get to know you! Graduates of any of the 35 years of Leadership Golden are invited to attend this free annual meeting of the Leadership Golden Alumni Association. The event will be held at the Golden Visitors Center, 1010 Washington Avenue on Tuesday, October 2 at 5:30 p.m.

In 2011, the idea of Coffee with a Cop was born in a small California town. Since then, there have been thousands of these coffee gatherings in all 50 states and even in 14 different countries. Golden Police participated in the past, but it fell off the radar in recent years. Now, Golden Police officers want to bring it back to our city.

“I believe it is going to be a good thing to bring this event back to Golden,” said event organizer Corporal Adam Lanning. “Many of our citizens like to speak and talk to officers and this just gives them another opportunity.”

Join the Golden Police Department for Coffee with a Cop from 7 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Café 13, 1301 Arapahoe St.  The owners of Café 13 have graciously agreed to host the event and provide free coffee and pastries to anyone who comes. There is no agenda and no speeches, just open and honest communication in a comfortable environment. We hope to see you there!
